Road Work Alert

Beginning Monday, April 23, 2018, road work will start on Sunrise Blvd. between Locher Drive and Sayonara Drive (southbound lanes primarily). Road work to be limited to one lane of traffic on weekdays from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm. Some portions of the work will also require limiting northbound traffic to a single lane for several days during work hours. Road work is expected to last until September 2018

As you’ll note the working hours of the project are outside the normal times allowed for work on arterials, which is 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM.  This is due, in part, to storm drain work, which will be located in the middle of the road as existing utilities are located on the sides of the road. Extending the work time will allow this portion of the work to be completed up to two weeks earlier. This work, which will have significant impacts on southbound lanes, will take approximately 4-5 weeks. For approximately 10 days during the storm drain work, traffic will be restricted to one lane each direction and southbound traffic will be shifted over to the northbound side of the median during working hours only.  Once the storm drain installation is complete, most of the balance of the work will take place on the southbound shoulders of the road and northbound lanes should remain open.

The City is committed to mitigating impacts, as is feasible, by modifying traffic signals to allow for longer periods of traffic flow.  The contractor may conduct some work at night to lessen impacts and will use changeable message boards to give regular drivers on the corridor advanced notice of significant changes.

While it takes place outside the boundaries of the District, this work is just North of our boundary and may significantly impact commute, residential and consumer traffic.
