Hobby Lobby to open January 27 here in Sunrise MarketPlace

Hobby Lobby to open later this month in Citrus Heights

Sentinel staff report–
One of the first major business openings of 2020 in Citrus Heights is scheduled to take place later this month.

Hobby Lobby’s corporate office in Oklahoma confirmed an opening date of Jan. 27 for its new Citrus Heights store in an email to The Sentinel on Wednesday. The location will be the company’s 53rd store in California, adding to the total of more than 800 Hobby Lobby stores nationwide.

The 41,000-square-foot store at the corner of Greenback Lane and Birdcage Street in the Sunrise MarketPlace was formerly home to Toys R Us, which closed in 2018.

“Once you visit Hobby Lobby, you will see that we are very unique, offering the widest variety of merchandise in the craft and home decor market under one roof,” Hobby Lobby spokeswoman Kelly Black said in a news release announcing the upcoming opening. “We’re tremendously excited about becoming a part of the Citrus Heights community.”

The new store is expected to bring 35-50 jobs to the area. According to a job listing on the company’s website, a senior assistant manager for the Citrus Heights location is currently being sought.
